At any of our 34 New York state locations, you can work one-to-one with a faculty mentor, in small study groups and intensive residencies. Take online courses from anywhere in the world that include access to faculty, fellow students, and other online resources. Or blend different study options to meet your needs best.

Tuition You Can Afford

Empire State College tuition rates are among the lowest in the region. Tuition is only $220 per credit for New York state residents and all Center for Distance Learning students (residency restrictions and other mandatory student fees apply).

In addition, many students are eligible for financial aid in the form of scholarships, loans, grants, or employer tuition benefits.

Credit for Prior Learning

You may transfer credits from regionally accredited colleges to a degree at Empire State College.

You also can earn credit for college-level learning gained from work and life experience, including employee training programs, professional certificates or licenses, and military training.

Accredited SUNY College

Accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Empire State College was the first public nontraditional higher education institution to be accredited.

Empire State College is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. Founded in 1971, the college was designed to meet the needs of adult learners. Through online study and 35 convenient locations in New York state, the college has awarded degrees to more than 60,000 graduates.
